  • They are not supposed to gossip. They are supposed to preach about different subjects, but using specific people as an example in a sermon is wrong. If your preacher is gossiping the elders or men of the congregation need to be aware of the problem so something can be done about it.

  • It is not ok.. it is dishonoring and that can tear a church apart. He should not be doing that period.
Is he using their names? Or using examples without mentioning who and if they attend the church.
My Pastor is very honoring, He will use examples but not specifics of who what where but it is so rare. We are more about uplifting and encouraging others than anything else.

  • No one is "encouraged" to gossip about anyone else. Least of all a Pastor, who is supposed to keep things under wraps. We had a Pastor who was not able to do that. He may have meant well in some instances, but it led to lots of hurt feelings, and was one of the reasons we left a church we really loved. We are now in a Church where the Pastor has more respect, and will honor without mention of names, or ask for prayers, without sharing specifics, but ONLY after he has cleared it with the individual.

  • Does the bible actually say not to gossip about your "preacher" ? I thought it just said not to gossip, period. Do you have verses?

  • No it works both ways. However not gossiping seems to be the hardest vice to break.

  • hm, any preacher that uses the pulpit to call people out or gossip obviously isnt following what the word of God tells us. Thats such a shame and the Bible says that they will be held accountable, they are treading dangerous grounds.

  • just who are you saying, is encouraging this gossip?
I've only talked bad about one preacher and still do because he was lousy and still is.
as far as gossip, it was all true so there was no gossip involved
I've never known a preacher to gossip nor have i ever seen it encouraged.
