  • In most ways yes but thinking about abortion, no. No man should be able to choose whether a woman could keep her baby. But other than that, its his child and should have equal rights.

  • In many situations, it would be impossible to give the father equal rights to an unborn child because paternity is not proven. The mother would always, by default, have more rights because the baby is contained within her body.

If we're going to give father's equal rights while baby is in utero, then they should also be held to equal responsibility!!!

  • NONE! To grant a man rights over a fetus would give him permission to force a woman to terminate her pregnancy, or force a woman to stay pregnant against her will. No man deserves ANY control over a woman's reproductive system.

  • No because it is the only true double standard. The mother carries, gives birth to and pretty much 100% of the time, cares for the child. Some dads are more involved than others but giving him rights when the child is still in the womb would also allow him to force an abortion if he decided he wanted nothing to do with the child and didn't want to pay child support. I'm at the point I'm sick of hearing complaints that men should have equal rights from equal rights from conception but history has shown a long stretch of fathers who can't be bothered to take equal responsibility. Too many people think sperm equals unending right to drop in and out of a child's life no matter that that is not good for a child.

  • Yes, they should.

  • They should have the same rights that they would after the baby is born. The baby is still half theirs.

  • I don't think father's right should be equal because a father's participation in pregnancy, labor, and delivery isn't equal.

IMO, equal and fair aren't the same thing.

  • I think it is their child just like it is the mother's, and yes their rights should be equal!

  • As far as what? Forcing an abortion on her?
if a guy doesn't want to get a woman pregnant, maybe he should make sure he knows her and knows whether or not she uses BC and wear a condom besides!

  • i think they should have the same choices as the mom.... almost. he shouldn't be allowed to tell the mother to have an abortion, BUT, he also should be given the right to say NO to the abortion. she can choose if she wants to keep the baby or not, he should too. even without an abortion, he can say he doesn't want to know the baby (yet must still be financially responsible.)
