  • Because that would make it easy for mom (or dad) and what kid wants to do that.

  • How old are they? My oldest has "rest time" rather than nap time. I get him settled and then put the little one down at the same time. He has to stay there "resting" with his books or game or watching a movie until his brother gets up. It was really hard the first few times, but once they got it down it was much better...

  • My friend has two boys and before the oldest started school, she would let him read during nap time if he didn't want to sleep.

  • Your children are different.

  • I have 5 ages 8 - 23 months. They all take naps at the same same time *most of the time! They are all laying down quietly now.

  • Because they are individuals and have their own rhythms and internal clocks.

I did get lucky and my 2nd and 3rd kids (who are 13 months apart) napped at about the same time every day.  But by then my oldest, who was 2 1/2, had long since stopped napping.
