  • Used my tax return as a down payment on a house, thus making our monthly roof-over-head payment go down $400. Buy in bulk (Costco and bulk bins at grocery) eat meat less often and more soups/stews.

  • Going out to dinner, going to events that charge an admission fee, no vacations, no buying anything we don't need.

  • We don't go out to eat anymore, I only drive when it's necessary, shop out of season for clothes, grocery shop very carefully and take advantage of coupons and sales. I started making my own laundry detergent and line drying our laundry. A vacation for us is visiting a relative and even then we don't go too far or spend any money we don't absolutely need to.

  • Look at your cell phone, cable, etc, you'd be amazed how much you can shave off and still be happy with your plan! Online coupons for groceries are really worth the time, I save about $15 to $20 a week on normal groceries just with coupons.
