  • Mary is the mother of Jesus. God sent Holy Spirit to impregnate Mary so she would give birth to His Son. At John 14:28 Jesus states " the Father is greater than I am" . They are not the same person.

  • Jesus is the Son of God and God the Son. Mary is the mother of Jeus, who is God. He is fully human and fully divine. Mary is a person like the rest of us, but she was chosen to have the high honor of being the mother of our Lord. God chose one of His creatures to be the vessel that would carry Him so He could take on flesh and dwell among us.

  • It is simple but the previous poster just complicated it :-)
God is the Father, He sent Holy Spirit to overshadow Mary who would SUPERNATURALLY bear a Son and His name would be Jesus.
    That is simple enough :-)

  • The title "Mother of God" actually predates Christianity. That, as well as many other titles for her, came about through the conversion of Goddess Worshipers to Christianity. Mother of God referred to the belief that a Great Goddess was the mother of all, including God. The title simply transferred as the people did...

  • Jesus is God incarnate - meaning God in human form. Mary is the mother of God the human being, but NOT God the Divine being. God the human being obviously has a beginning, but God the divine being is infinite.

  • My personal view/belief.

Mary gave birth to the Christ. Who was a prophet of God, but not God (aka: Allah, Brahma, or whatever name one chooses to use for the One Universal Creator)..

  • For people who believe Jesus WAS God, Mary would be the Mother of God in the flesh.
