is it normal for a new born to sleep all day long!

my dd is 4 days old.. she pretty much sleeps all day she wakes up every 4 hours to feed change and goes back to sleep
is that normal!
my first never ever so am wondering

  • well, if she's asleep all day she may be up all beware lol. but yeah if she's sleeping day and night consider yourself blessed and take may not last long. just be sure she's not sick or anything's wrong...which i'm pretty sure she's ok since they let you go home :)

  • That's normal. My 1st didn't sleep hardly at all when she was a newborn, so I was shocked when my son slept all the time lol.

  • My first child was like that! I loved it! lol. She ate well and was alert while she was awake, but she really liked to sleep. ...a lot! lol. My second one didn't sleep as much.

  • That may just be her style. Some people need more sleep than others, babies included.

  • Totally normal, most newborns are only awake 4-8 hours a day.

  • OMG thats all my daughter did when she was that old!!!! unless she is not voiding or pooping, running a fever or not eating, i would not be concerned.
