  • when an immigrant relocates to another country and tries to impose their past cultural ways upon the people in the new country, i would have to say there is another agenda on board as to why they came here to begin with.
when european immigrants came to the us it was for a better life and conformed to the society that was perceived to have a better standard of living.
If you're not conforming to the new and bringing the old with you, what is the reason you come to the u.s. to begin with? If your current life status is great enough to impose it upon the new residents of which you now reside, why did you leave?
    good article today

  • i like that article, and i like what the chancellor said too. she spoke what 60% of her people believe!
I can not imagine moving to another country and thinking that they should change their laws to accommodate me, nor can i imagine moving to another country and not abiding by their laws.
i don't think that makes anyone racist or a bigot because they expect that immigrants should follow the laws.

  • It is an interesting article. The idea that all cultures are capable of cozying up and living in harmony in very close quarters is kind of crazy. Especially when you add politics into the mix. The fact is that different cultures sometimes have very different values and ideas that just do not co-exist well. Womens rights, parenting ideals, education, religion, caste systems, and so on. These things vary greatly from culture to culture. And come with high emotions attached.

  • Differences are what makes us...well us! We should all live together in harmony regardless of differences. How is it that my best friend and I differ greatly on MANY things but are still best friends. Because we do not care about what is different it is about what is the same and we all have many things on common. One being we are all human beings!

  • delilahs
this in particular is about muslims wanting to live in germany, but they want to follow their own laws, and not the laws of the german people. that does not create harmony or respect.
    kitty kat
expecting immigrants to follow the laws of the land is not extreme prejudice.

  • In Germany, as in other countries in Europe, welcoming millions of foreign workers who insist on remaining foreign has created problems so obvious that only the intelligentsia could fail to see them. It takes a high IQ to evade the obvious.
