What do you ladies cook for Christmas dinner? If you don't cook it yourself, what does someone else cook for your family?

  • We have a big Christmas eve dinner a combination of Italian and Southern -all seafood. Fried calamari, shrimp, catfish and oysters, Spaghetti with Blue crab sauce, steamed crab legs, cole slaw and hushpuppies. Christmas morning we have a big breakfast, Pork Chops, cinnamon apples, eggs, biscuits and gravy, fried potatoes, sliced tomatoes. So Christmas dinner is usually leftovers from the night before. And desserts.

  • Our Christmas tradition is that we stay home, and just lay around and be together, anyone who wants to drop by is welcome, so I make all of our family's favorite finger foods and appetizers, and a ham with dinner rolls for little sandwiches, and we heat things up as people come by through out the day....or as we get hungry. It's all stuff I can make ahead, so no work on Christmas day other than heating things.

For dessert, just a big platter of all of our favorite cookies.

  • We have turkey and/or ham depending on who's cooking, sweet potato souffle, dressing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, and one or two pies for dessert. It's almost the exact same thing at Thanksgiving. My family is very unoriginal, lol. But we like what we like. This year, however... my mother wants a goose. She has two picky daughters (my sisters) and very picky grandkids, and one wary daughter who will probably end up trying to find a goose and let my sister or niece fix the turkey or ham. Should be interesting!

  • One year we had a christmas stew it was fun to have something out of the ordinary. But usually it is a ham and since it is just me and my sister and my kids after the ham is eaten we take the bone, boil it and make split pea soup for the next day.
