When did your baby start trying to crawl?

D is almost 6 month old and doesn't even try to get up on all 4's ...

  • No! No need to worry at all. Just remember they all are different and will do things at different times, ages & stages. It is hard not to compare them sometimes to other siblings at that age or other kids the same age - but it is no good to compare.
Anyway, mine just turned 6 months and isn't crawling either. I think she is going to soon though. I'm trying to remember when my 1st starting crawling to kind of give you a guide...I want to say it was around this age.

  • Crawling isn't even a milestone so there is no need to worry at all as long as your LO is hitting their milestones in other areas. My dd was crawling at 6 months, and has a friend that is a few weeks younger that is now 8 months and has just started scooting. All babies are different.

  • thank you My mother is so upset that D isnt "doing" anything right now like scooting or crawling...I tried to explain that D is happy and comfortable where he is at...he sings, dances, kisses, talks (babbles lol), and laughs.

  • Mine started at 8 months. Your baby is still too small

  • You know grandmas they say I read here that this should be this and that should be that...I refuse to read those "baby" books because none of them ever meet up to what your baby is actually doing.

  • My DS was crawling by 5 months after a few weeks of an army crawl where he dragged himself with his arms...he is crazy strong for his age though--the doctors always comment on it. His twin cousins just started crawling recently, and they are 8 months old. Some babies skip crawling or do some modified version of crawling to get around. There is a big range of what is normal for babies, so I wouldn't worry at this point.
