  • just break your trip up a will help. Books, learning toys like game boys(not that game boys are learning toys) but whatever makes them happy. Ive even seen things that you can buy for in the car and it goes over their lap and they can draw and stuff. We move like every 3 years so I know how you feel. What state are you moving to?

  • They will hopefully sleep alot. Bring hand held games, coloring books, & there's always the license plate game (for the older child) Good luck!

  • Movies. Music to listen to. Books to read and color. Use the rest stops to let them run and play. I just made a 1,400 mile move with a 6 and 7 year old last year. I wish you all the luck, because I found it rather harrowing, but we all made it nice and safe. :)

  • Books, coloring books, Cd with sing along songs, coloring books, playdough, puzzels, travel size board games (I know they have sorry and clue), stickers, also what we did was we had little bags with little gifts in them. So when they were good or got a question right they got a "gift bag". Dont forget snacks and water... try to stop at a few mcdonalds on the way so they can play in the "play area". Good Luck!

  • Stop every few hours and stop at a mall or Walmart or something to walk around for an hour.

We just moved from Chicago to Portland, OR with 5 kids (10, 8 1/2, 7 1/2, 4 and 4 weeks at the time).  We first drove 8 hours to my inlaws and then after a few days there drove from Missouri to Washington state where we live.  It took us 6 days/5 nights.

We don't have a DVD player or anything like that in the car.  The kids entertaing themselves with books, coloring and just talking to each other,  We were forced to stop every few hours to feed the baby.  My 7yo and 4yo slept most of the time.

  • Is it possible for you to do one-half of the trip and stay one night at a hotel, and then do the other half the next day? That way they don't have to spend a lot of time in the car in one day.

  • we have PCS's ( military move) many times, and your best bet is to get a TV/DVD player installed, and stop frequently to see sights, adn enjoy the neat places oin the way! I have 5 kids, and have always had successful trips!

  • Yeah, we are military and just moved up here(NY) from TX.... but my DH was with me. This time its just me and the kiddos! NY to OK, planning on taking at least 4 days to take the trip. My daughter has rhuemotoid arthritis so she can't sit long without being in pain. We are in no hurry, so that will help. Thanks for all the info ladies! Just a say a prayer for
