Why is Obama more of a socialist than Clinton?

I never heard anyone call Clinton a socialists. Obama's tax plan is pretty similar to what we paid under Clinton. While he was president he taxed the rich more too. How come no one accused him of socialism/marxism/communism?

  • Obama is pushing other socialist agendas, such as healthcare, and education. Its not just his tax plan, its his entire plan for the country. He wants more federal government control and more federal government programs. Its Obama's belief that the government knows better than you do, that makes him more of a socialist than most democrats.

  • Because unlike Obama, Clinton took hard aim at people who were abusing government aid when welfare was reformed during his second term. Since it passed, the number of welfare recipients has dropped almost 57%.

When Obama talks about spreading the wealth, he doesn't mention the host of government assistance programs he plans to enact if elected nor does he bother to discuss how he plans to fund them. He has promised many times to repeal the Bush Tax Cuts, which means that your taxes WILL go up (he doesn't say that of course, but that's exactly what will happen.)

On average, those making less than 200K saw a 20.4% reduction in their taxes under President Bush. If Obama keeps his word and repeals them as promised, the MC tax bracket will be going back up, and that money has been promised to a number of socialized programs that will provide more government assistance.

  • njmommy--how does that in any way answer the OP's question about comparisons between Obama and Clinton?

It's just an opinionated article about why Obama isn't a socialist (in the opinion of the author.) I could offer hundreds of opinionated articles about why he is. It doesn't make any mention of Clinton or compare his policies to Obama's.
