  • Set up a schedule and stick to it every day. Breakfast, circle time, outside, lunch, story time, movie time, nap time, craft time, play time, etc... My daycare has a theme every month, really revolving around the holidays. October they did apple themes (books, crafts, snacks) and pumpkins and of course a huge deal is made of halloween. Next month is Thanksgiving, pilgrims, leaves, etc. Good luck!

  • Have the parents bring the diapers, wipes, bottles, formula, change of clothes. Also explain to the parent that if there child is sick that they need to not bring there child to your home and if any of your children are sick you need to have a back-up plan also. Having an home daycare is a tough business cause children get sick and if your children get sick you have to figure something else out. You also want to be paid at the beginning of the week always and even if they miss a day you still get paid. Write up a contract no matter if this is your BFF or just a friend business is business.

  • Check with your local government. In Michigan it is REQUIRED to have a Daycare license to babysit even one child that isn't related to you.
