Am I losing my supply?

I usually don't go very long between feedings during the day but there are times when we go 4 hours are so and feel pretty uncomfy. The other night we went 6 hours or a little more and I didn't feel that full.

  • This doesn't mean you are losing your supply, no.

  • You aren't losing your supply, this happens as your baby gets older and you stop having to nurse 24/7. The best way to teel if your supply is good is to count how many wet diapers your LO has daily, as long as it's 6 or more your're good to go.

  • No. "Fullness" doesn't indicate that. Your breasts adjusts after a while.

  • The very best way to tell if your baby is getting enough is weight gain. If your baby is gaining at least 4 oz a week or a pound a month then you have plenty. If a normal baby (full-term, no health or developmental issues) is hungry they nurse more and the breasts start making more milk in a day or two.

  • You would know if you were "losing your supply" if you saw a decrease in diapers. What you have described does not mean a thing.
