  • educate yourself constantly on research about kids. Don't listen to what everyone has to say. If breastfeeding doesn't work out don't beat yourself up-formula isn't poison. Be prepared to be your child's #1 go-to for everything and that child will respect you always. Don't keep a pediatrician if they seem to not care or are otherwise clueless.

  • You're not perfect. No one is. It's ok if you have to bottle feed if you can't produce enough milk, or if you don't want to nurse. Make sure you kiss and cuddle your child everyday. Tell them that you love them. It's really the small things that count. Oh and kids love structure.

  • enjoy every single day because it goes extremely fast and no matter how crazy things get just take a moment everyday to just sit and be with your child doing something alone and quiet.

  • don't let your mil try to take over. after the baby is born, it is OKAY to not accept visitors for a couple of weeks. that's your time to sleep and get used to your new baby. also, don't forget to put daddy to work, but also make sure he gets enough sleep, too.
