1 Bump

going into Labor

My daughter-in-law went to dr today. She is 38 weeks, 1oo% effaced, and dilated to a one to a 1. She is having some contractions but not productive. What are some suggestions to get her going. Doc said is okay to try.

  • My doctor told me having intercourse would speed up the process. The sperm helps to weaken the mucus plug.

  • Why does she "NEED" to try to bring it on? Why not let nature do it's thing? It knows more than you do.

  • At 38 weeks, as long as her water hasn't broken, I wouldn't be trying to speed it up. 38 weeks is barely full term.

  • Sex: The orgasm causes your body to release oxytocin (works like pitocin) which is a natural labor inducer causeing the uterus to contract and the semen helps soften the cervix.

Walking, bouncing softly/rocking on birth ball, and nipple stimulation.
