  • I had a major drug addiction all throughout high school (methamphetamines) and I got clean February 28, 2005. I take six years this February coming up! Getting clean was easier than staying clean, but keeping the toxic people out of my life and remembering not to trade one addiction for another was harder. Now I have my husband and daughter, NOTHING could bring me back to using!

  • Being told that I had a brain tumor that was going to leave me blind within three months and dead in six months. That was 22 years ago - praise the Lord!

  • dealing with the loss of our infant daughter who was stillborn. Everyone(not my husband) expected me to get over it really fast. Even 10 years later I still tear up when her death anniversary comes around.

  • Gathering up the courage to leave my abusive, alcoholic ex-husband. I have no family here (they're all in Europe), and he kept me isolated, so I had no friends, no resources, NOTHING. Leaving was the scariest, and best thing, I have ever done.

  • I think most people would think it would be having a son on with an autism spectrum disorder, but for me, that's not that bad. For me it was growing up with a mother with an untreated mental illness and still dealing with that--whether it be dealing with my baggage from that. dealing with my sister's baggage from it, or dealing with my mother when she is having an episode.
