TMI question about spotting after internal!! (36 weeks) adult content

I warned you in the title! So today I had my first internal exam. I am 36 weeks 2 days pregnant. I am 3cm dilated!! So exciting. Anyway, about 4 hours after my exam I noticed a bit of slightly diluted red blood in my underwear while I was peeing. When I wiped a big glob of bright red mucusy discharge was on the toilet paper. I wiped again and more came, and again, and again. I wiped like 6 times. Later when I went pee (maybe 20 minutes later) the same thing happened, and again when I went pee about a half hour after that. I remember spotting brown when I had internals when I was pregnant with my son, but I don't recall this kind of discharge. Even when I lost my plug it was mostly mucus with streaks of brownish red blood. Today, this was bright red blood. Should I be concerned or is this normal?

  • they probably nicked a capillary in your cervix or something - I had periodic bright red spotting towards the end, as the baby was putting extra pressure on my cervix, i had a few capillaries burst. However if you continue bleeding, call your doc ASAP.

  • Normal. Your cervix was irritated by the exam. I'd avoid them from now on. They aren't necessary and they ccan't predict when labor will start or how labor will go. No reason to have them except to feel like you're doing something lol.

  • I would say that it is normal, but I am certainly not a doctor. Sounds quite similar to what I experienced with each of my little ones.

  • Sounds like it may be normal stuff. I know it happens to some, but I never do checks with my own pregnancies.

I would certainly consider declining from here out~

    Good luck!
