how to get a kid to stop picking and eating his boogers?

he is 3 and not mine but i watch him daily. what is a kind approach?

  • I told my DS that they were germs the few times he actually picked his nose and he stopped doing it.

  • i would use a scare tactic but...with it not being your kid this may not be a good idea.

    i was going to say maybe tell him "ya know..thats part of your brain you're digging out..you don't want to pick at it because then you wont be smart."

  • Tell him it is OK to pick and wipe them on a tissue, but only in private, but that it isn't OK to eat them. This worked for me.

    LOL! I would tell him that buggars get stuck in his tummy and if he keeps eating them, the Dr. is going to have to cut open his tummy & take them out.

    This is what my mother told me about biting & sometimes swallowing my nails. Maybe it's cruel to freak your kids out, but it CERTAINLY worked on me!
