What can i put on my lips besides chapstick?

My lips feel like they are sunburnt really really bad, even though they're not and they HURT! My son decided my chapstick was better utilized as a marker, and i'm not exactly close to any stores. What else can i use for now that wont be gross? I tried lotion, but that didn't work very well, and it tastes nasty!

  • Vaseline would be first choice. However, during an ice storm once my lips were so windburned from having to be out to keep lines clear I ran out of chapstick..I had no vaseline...I actually used shortening, it helped...and it wasn't too gross.

  • Antibiotic ointment works great.
    I think Vicks would burn...
(I'm a Carmex addict and have used lotion, olive oil, Vaseline, and Neosporin in emergencies.)

  • do you have any lanolin on hand? it works awesome! Just try not to think about what you're putting on your lips (lanolin is sheep grease. :) )

  • Thanks ladies! I dug out my vaseline, and i'm pretty sure the last time i used it was on a diaper rash bum, so i scraped off about half the container of it first! Lol! Seems to be helping so far though!
