What do you do for red dirt stained clothes, before washing them?

Are there any pre-treating tricks to do before the main wash? I only ask, because I live in red dirt country.

  • I don't have to deal with red dirt, but when my kids clothes are extra dirty from playing outside I'll run an extra wash - usually without soap, then wash again with. Then if they're still stained/dirty I'll spray them down with a pretreater or I'll soak them in the washer (run a wash cycle but open the lid) with a good clothing-safe all purpose cleaner, then finish washing them after an hour or so.
