  • When my daughter was that age, she had 3 or 4 words. Some kids her age had many more words at that age, some weren't saying anything yet. It really varies.

  • My son is 2 1/2 right now and he talks up a storm. He was always good at talking. It all depends on your kid some like to talk more than others. I had a nephew who didn't really start talking until he was about 4. I think the most important thing is that you talk to them like they are another adult and don't use baby talk. so that way they can learn more words and the right way to use them.

  • About 5 consistent words from 12 - 18 months. Such as dada, mama, etc (doesn't have to be a "real" word, but it has clear meaning). typically can make animal noises (at least one). Can follow simple commands. tries to say other words or pratices sounds (this is all from my daughter's Ear, nose and throat visit)

  • my daughter is 16months old... she knows about 5-6 words. She sometimes uses one word for 5 different things.
e.g. when she wants me to put her socks/shoes on, then she will say "an" (english: on) and she will point at the thing she wants to put on or she will give it to me. lol
