What is your "typical" Thanksgiving meal? If you had to pare it down to just 4 dishes and 2 condiments, what would you keep?

Our typical Thanksgiving meal is:

1 fried turkey
cornbread dressing
corn
brussels sprouts or green bean casserole
sweet potato casserole
rolls
pecan pie
peach cobbler
cookies
gravy
cranberry sauce

If I had to pare it down, I would keep the turkey, dressing, sweet potato casserole, cobbler, gravy and cranberry sauce. but i sure would miss the other things lol.

  • We have pared it down in recent years because the whole family is overweight: now it's Turkey/ stuffing/ mashed potato/ green beans/ stuffed celery sticks and pie for dessert, but I don't like pie, so it's okay. Of course, we did manage to keep most of the fattening stuff ON the menu.

  • Turkey/ham, either would be fine.
    Dressing/gravy, of course!
    Creamed Corn
    Green veg/casserole of some type.

Condiments? Would gravy go here, lol.
Not too big on Cranberry sauce, how about butter?

But I"d miss the rolls and crescents, the deviled eggs, the mustard greens with fatback.
To say nothing of the Million Dollar Pie and Carolina Cream Cake!

Dang, now I"m hungry for some Thanksgiving, lol!

    Hubby's Broccoli and Cauliflower Casserole

    Turkey gravy
    Ocean Spray's Cranberry Sauce, jellied.

  • Hmmm....if I had to narrow it down to (4) things I would have Mr. Tom the turkey, corn casserole, sweet potato casserole, and dressing.

  • We don't have a normal - it's potluck wherever we go, we're never home for Thanksgiving. But, if I were going to make my own and could only make 4 things, it would be turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, and...it would be a toss up between stuffing, corn, and dessert.
