What would your reaction be...

if during an argument your kid (of any age with no history) threatens you with a weapon (like a bat or stick) in a fit of anger?

Would you feel you pushed them too far?

Would you analyze what happened to make it to that point? Blame yourself a bit?

Or act on instinct and get physical and take further actions against them? In effect putting no blame on yourself at all.

  • I would question if I was asking too much of them. Or question how I was phrasing things to make them feel so isolated and defnsive. Horrible situation :r
Yes, I'd be thinking it over and asking what happened to make it to that point. Blaming myself mostly.

  • I would think that I as a parent must be loosing control of my child and I need to reevaluate my discipline.

I would NOT get physical with them.

  • You cant really say "any age" because a two year old who gets mad at mom and hits her with a toy is vastly different than a 17 yr old who hits mom with something. There is simply no comparison.

So my answer would depend on the child's age.
