How can I unclog a dishwasher?

My dishwasher will not drain, and I need to use it! Water runs in some must be going out because it would over flow. How do I get it to completely empty.

  • Most dishwasher drain into the sink pipes. So the sink pipes are probably clogged. Or the pipe going to the sink is clogged. This is why I rinse my dishes before putting them into the dishwasher.

  • Unhook the drain line from the pipe under the sink. Run a wire into the dishwasher line to remove the clog.

  • I would look at the water tubing going from the dishwasher to the water line under your kitchen sink and see if there is a clog there.
