Only new or do you ever use second hand clothes for your kids?

My kids are still really young and we get lots of hand-me-downs from cousins.

  • DS has a lot of hand-me downs....we get them from a girl that my MIL works with. I keep the ones that arnt messed up and toss the ones that are. this way it saves me money and I can get other things I need for him.

  • i do whatever. if i see a good price, (i try to never pay retail price) i get it. if someone gives me something, i use it. doesn't matter to me, as long as they fit them :) I will never buy a $20 shirt for them they'll be out of it in a few months, it's just not worth the money.

  • I always use hand me downs when I can. I see no point in buying new.

  • hand me downs, ebay, thrift stores, yard sales we use them all. I've gotten excellent condition gymboree and ralph lauren for as little as 50 cents each

  • My son never had hand me downs. He's and only child, and all of his cousins live either in another state or another country. He's also the 2nd oldest amongst his cousins as well.

Never really bought second hand clothes either. I always found really good deals on new clothes for him. I rarely paid full price for clothes until he was a teen though. Once he outgrew kids clothes and had to by "adult" clothes, shopping sales only became a little harder.. LOL

  • I use hand-me-downs and shop on the clearance rack. You can find things on the clearance rack out of season then store them until they are appropriate for the weather. I have only bought a leather jacket 2nd hand. It was 2 sizes too big but he will get it for his birthday next year.

  • The majority of my 4 year old daughter's clothes are hand me downs from either my nieces, who are 5 and 9, or my friend's 8 year old daughter. Occasionally we get pants from her 5 year old son too. Though I have a feeling that won't happen for much longer, because I really think my daughter's going to be taller than him soon.

  • Both mine have used almost all hand me downs, my daughter had new stuff for about the first year, but it was all gifts. We are lucky and have had people give us really really nice hand me downs, nicer then anything we would buy from the stores around here, so they look very well dressed, and have had tons of clothes, you would never know they were hand me downs, are next baby will be all hand me downs from my two.

  • Until t his year my kids have never had any new clothing....we get ours from friends, or shopping at GoodWill stores or Value Village.... all used..... but this year, we've indulged a little....I have to say it's kind of a nice feeling to buy new....but i'll still be continuing to buy used for the most part....
