  • I like it the old fashioned way, the way my mom taught me to cook it. Pour in a little peanut oil to cover bottom of a heavy bottomed saucepan. Pour in enough popcorn kernels to just cover the bottom of the pan. Shake to make sure they are all coated in oil. Place over medium heat-no higher. Cover with a lid, wait for the first pop, then shake occassionally. Melt butter in another container (I use microwave for this) When it stops popping, remove and pour into a large bowl. Perfect every time, not burnt and all kernels pop. The secret is the medium heat, and putting the kernels into cold oil, then letting heat up. Sprinkle with popcorn salt (finer than regular salt) and pour butter over and toss to coat.

  • Popcorn makes me twitch anymore. When I was in high school, I worked the concession stand for a newly built theater. Cleaning the popper was #(&%$). After a couple of years (and moving to another state), I found a job at another theater (supervisor title, this time). I still have nightmares and that last job was in 2003!
