I am currently using genaric pro-active for my skin. Is this safe?

I am 4 weeks pregnant....

  • since ur only 4 wks it might be ok.. but not in the long run.. but u might want to check with ur dr

  • safe as long as you aren't drinking it or anything ;o) J/K :)

    they have actually not done many studies on safe acne medicine during pregnancy.

    if you are worried though, you can always switch to a witch hazel based toner instead of the salicylic acid base that is in the proactive type.

    I used proactive through out 3 pregnancies, 3 healthy kids

  • most of the proactive products are benzoyl peroxide, only a few items like one of the masques I think have the salicylic acid in them. you do need to avoid any product with salicylic acid in it while pg but the peroxide products are ok. I don't know about the generics, but the drug facts are required on the packaging so you only have to look.

  • I dont see how acne medicine would be harmful
    I still use face and body cleanser and I'm 20 weeks 4 days
