Babysitting Cost

What is normal to pay an hour for someone to babysit a two month old. Not at a daycare, but just someone to watch him here and there.

  • That's $2.50 an hour. I wouldn't charge/pay more than $4 an hour.

  • Depends on how old the person is, teenager or adult. Their experience with children. How long you're going to be gone. If it's going to be during the day when they have to be VERY active with him/her, or at night when all they will be doing is watching tv while the child sleeps, etc.

  • The babysitter is an adult.

Minimum fo an adult? Really? What would be the point in even going to work....?

  • Yeah, if that's the case, you'll do better staying home that day instead of paying that adult the entire amount you'd make at work.

  • Ugh, I can't do stay home either! I'm on my own here! Someone's got to pay my bills.

  • I run a licensed home day care (so I am not a sitter and way more experienced and educated) and I charge 2.50 per hour per child.
