  • US military requirement for soldiers to stay in service beyond their normal discharge date. Thanks to Wikipedia for the answer.

  • Ballewal is correct. And if you (general you) or someone you know has been stop lossed tell them to go to this website- http://www.defense.gov/home/features/2010/0710_stoploss/ (if they haven't already) to see if they qualify for the stop loss retroactive pay.
