  • I think at least a year. It gives you plenty of time to plan and not get so stressed. Good Luck! :)

  • I think it depends on the people, culture, how they live, what their values are, etc....

  • As long as the couple feels is the right amount of time. No couple should be restricted, but I do think a longer engagement does help to open up who the two really are. Allowing them to see the person they'll be married to, etc.

  • 6-18 months

  • There's really no good timetable. People can be engaged for 2 weeks and up to 10 years!

  • It depends on the couple - I'd say a year or so.

  • just long enough to plan a wedding- that would depend on how elaborate the wedding is going to be.
We had a relatively simple wedding so we were only engaged for 4.5 months (but we also dated a year and a half before we got engaged)

  • I was married 4 days after getting engaged!

  • We had already dated for over 2 years. So 5 months was enough for us for our engagement. I didn't want to wait a whole year.
