  • You can google pumpkin patterns and get a whole slew of printables. Also you should be fine without the kit as long as you have a variety of knives to use.

  • Maybe try drawing something on and cutting it out that way

  • I NEVER used a kit. My kids and I drew faces on pumpkins and cut them with a knife, scooped out the seeds with a spoon...and they were cool!

  • What I do is find a design I like online that would be good for cutting out. I print the design, tape it to the pumpkin, use a toothpick to make little holes around the outline of the design, then use a small knife/grapefruit spoon to cut the design out.

  • LOL, We Bought one about 12 yrs ago and loved it so much we bought a second set so we could do them at the same time. When my youngest became a teen he wanted to do it with us too. So, now we have three sets. The nice part is every few years they morph the knifes just a bit. We've only broken one knife in all these years . If you have some good knifes you don't 'have' to have the set. go to and print off a pattern.

  • Patterns you can get on line.  I've used a grapefruit knife for the craving part.
