Which is a better workout?

Is it better to walk 1 mile 5 days per week or 5 miles 1 day per week?

  • 1 mile 5 days a week. It will make it so you dont feel like you are doing to much work in just one day then doing nothing the rest of the week. That and it is better to spread things out.

  • Definitely the 1 mile for 5 days. The other benefit to that is that once you get started you might get your groove thing on and keep going. 1 mile could turn into 2 miles and before you know it you're a workout machine. Hehe.

  • I'm in agreement with everyone else. It isn't just about the amount of calories you burn doing the 1 versus 5 miles, it is also about what happens when you have finished the exercise. Our bodies continue to burn fat hours after an exercise and if you only do it once per week, you don't get the benefit of boosting your metabolic calorie burn on the days that you don't do it.
