What are the odds of having a girl my first pregancy?

This is my first child but not my b/f's, in a previous relationship he had a son, and I was just wondering if that increases our odds for a girl?

  • Sorry, I don't think that will affect your odds. The odds of a coin toss are 50/50 every time, no matter how many times you flip it.

  • If he had, say, SIX boys, I'd say odds are, it's a boy, but with just one, it's a toss up.

  • Nope I think the chance are 50/50 each time and I have 3 girls and I still think it is a 50/50 chance.

  • Its a 50/50 chance. Some people think that just because there are all boys in a family or things like that, that they will end up having a boy too. It has nothing to do with that. There are male and female sperms and which ever one reaches the egg first is what the baby will be! Male sperm move quickly and die faster in the vagina, female sperm move slower and live longer. So if you have sex during ovulation, you are more likely to conceive a male, but if you had it before ovulation, you are more likely to conceive a girl.
