Heart Palpitations in 7 year old

My dd had an episode yesterday with a rapid heartbeat that would not slow down.
The school nurse took her rate after resting for 10 minutes and it was at 220bpm. We took her to her pediatrician who has referred her to a pediatric cardiologist. Her appointment is this Friday. They have temporarily diagnosed her with supraventricular tachycardia.

Has anyone ever experienced this and what kind of treatment did your child have?

  • With tachycardia a number of things can help it hopefully she will just be on meds or be able to take the deep breath regiment (what i do) caffeine will help trigger it and any anxiety i wish you the best of luck with her and hope all goes well but remember she still needs to live a normal life they keep griping at my aunt who has it as well (they as in her family) b/c she wants to live a normal life which she is supposed to do just not over exert herself too much

  • I have not experienced this but worked in a cardiology office for 5 years. The good thing is you caught it now and can do something before damage is done. Good luck momma, hang in there!!
