When do you stop burping your baby?

My daughter will be 6 months in about a week and I still burp her when I feed her, her bottles... I was wondering when do you stop burping them yourself?

  • I stopped once he was moving around on his own. He was crawling at 6 months so it was a little before then.

  • Oh okay, so she can burp on her own, she is sitting unassisted, she is also army crawling, and she is also on solids for breakfast, lunch, and dinner... So does that mean she will be okay to burp on her own if I do not burp her?

  • when my son was holding his bottle with no problem at all and sitting alone then i stoped. I think your DD with be just fine if you do not burp her. Just try it one day and see how she does..If she looks like her tummy hurts then you might need to work with her on burping herself so she will learn but I think she will do fine.

  • It depends on the child. My son always burped on his own. During feedings all I'd have to do is take the bottle out for a second, he'd burp, and then go right on eating. He'd pass gass every so often throughout the day without hesitation. Heck he's two years old and still does. What a boy! Ha!

My daughter on the other hand needed to be burped for the first few months. Then she eventually started doing it on her own. Now she's worse then her brother when it comes to passing gas. She's one.

  • i would say that your baby would be fine if you don't burp her cause if she can do it on her own then you're off the hook
