How much is too much?

For years we have bought our grandchildren as much as possible but I am tired of trying to keep up with the other members of the family on who can buy the most and frankly just can't affort it. What can I do to eliminate so many gifts and put Christ back in Christmas and focus on family togetherness instead of presents.

  • X-mas shouldn't be about expensive gifts & competition..specially with other family members! Just be there for the grandkids with warm hugs, and believe me they will remember that, more than the last DS game!

  • why compete at all, that just gonna make the kids spoiled. Get them something nice that you wanna give and who cares what everyone else does?

  • Just make an announcement that you are not giving material gifts from now on and giving a family gift instead. Homemade baked goodies of Christmas cookies would be ideal. Really it’s the thought that counts and maybe they will do the same. New tradition!

  • My grandmother started to give us the option of receiving either Christmas or birthday gift. She explained to us why as well; she gave us the chance to choose. She also incorporated all of us grandchildren in trimming her tree which focused on togetherness and we also placed her nativity set on her table and she told us the story of the birth of Christ.
