Why is it offensive?

For halloween, for a white person to dress up as a black person (say tiger woods, obama or eddie murphy) to color their skin darker?

Would it be the same if a black person was to dress up as a white person?

  • DH & his cousin dressed up as Chris Cross a while back. It was a great costume, but they got slammed by some black folks when they went to get gas that night. Their costume had nothing to do with race, they just thought it'd be funny to dress up as Chris Cross. It really was a great costume. We felt bad that some took offense to it.

  • I don't see a issue. It's Halloween, you're supposed to be able to get creative.
