  • Women have been birthing babies ALL ON THEIR OWN for centuries. You do not HAVE TO see a doctor. Although obviously, if you plan to deliver in a hospital, you're going to need one. :) You also do not NEED an ultrasound. Ultrasounds are an optional procedure that have become protocol for no apparent reason. They are NOT necessary and are really not all that accurate in regards to many things.

I agree though. Look for a CPC or like place. They will be able to give you some references and help you apply for pregnancy medicaid if you qualify.

I didn't see a doctor until I was 20 weeks with my first child.

  • Our doctor charged a set fee for the entire pregnancy and then divided it by how many monthly visits you would have. Since you have waited for so long, the rate would be a lot higher per visit. I don't know if all doctors do this, but it seems pretty common.

  • See if there is a "crisis pregnancy center" in your area that will see you for free and help you get temporary insurance.

  • Most states have "pregnancy medicaid" you can usually apply at your county health dept or the Social Services office. You would have to call the doctor's office because some doctors lower their costs for patients that don't have insurance because it eliminates a lot of paperwork.

  • Well you are going to need an ultrasound... you can go to a pregnancy crisis center and your first US is FREE!! doctor check up can be anywhere between 45-300 without insurance. Call around there are free/cheap services for pregnant women. You will also need blood work. Go to the ER if you really have to and pay it in monthly payments! YOU HAVE TO SEE A DOCTOR

  • the 1st visit if you don't qualify for pregnancy medicaid can range from 200-500 depending on what all they want to do. They will want to do bloodwork, plus new patient exam and more than likely an ultrasound so you could be looking at over 500
