new puppy

i am thinking about getting a new puppy here soon we have a german shepard and my daughter loves her she use to be scared of dogs and i dont want her to go back to that if i get a new one any advice before getting another dog?

  • If your German Sheperd helped her overcome her fear of dogs, then it is unlikely that she'll regress. Unless you get a really aggressive or hyper-natured dog. So make sure to get a calm and well mannered breed to prevent her from possibly regressing.

  • Make sure before you bring the new puppy home to introduce the two dogs in a safe environment (both on leashes, in a comfortable setting) and when you do bring the new puppy home, keep it in a separate area from your other dog for two to three days, then switch them. This allows them to get used to eachother without actually coming face to face. It cuts down on confrontation. GL!

  • Try to choose a calmer puppy. One that won't jump all over her. Maybe a smaller breed would be a good idea too. And def include her in the choosing of the dog (duh). Have fun!
