  • a lot older than that! A 10 yr old isnt capable to babysit a 3yr old, and shoulnt have to either!

  • I agree. 10 is too young. I'd say 14 for a 3 year-old.

  • I would say 14 also but it would also depend on their maturity

  • In PA they are legally required to be 16 before they are able to babysit. So, 16...

  • Our city has an ordinance that babysitters must be at least 15 yrs old and have passed the babysitter saftey course through the red cross.

  • there is no legal age here, but I started being paid from others at 12 (i was mature but still 12), I feel it may be a bit young, but I am a bit over protective.  so I thought I'd get other mom around the country. However I live in a very nice neighborhood and my neighbors leave there 13 year old at home with their kids for an hr or 2. but 14- 16 sound fair.

  • I think it depends on the child. Here they legally have to be 12 before they can be left alone and with other children. It also depends on the amount of time and how far away I would be. If I am running to the store etc for an hour, then I let my 12 year old stay home with his siblings. If we will be gone for several hours or farther away then I would probably want someone at least 16. 16 and mature. Some 16 yr olds I wouldn't trust lol

  • My daughter took the Red Cross babysitting class when she was twelve. Our only requirement was that she pass the class, and get re certified in CPR every year.
