Tips on transitioning to a new daycare?

Dd is starting a new daycare on Friday. She will only be going on Fridays for a couple weeks before starting full time.

How can I make the first day easier for her?

  • If she's been in a daycare before, it shouldn't be too bad. Find out the daily routine, and tell her how it's like the place she used to go to.

If she hasn't been in care before, kind of the same information: first when you go in we wash your hands and put your coat away. The teachers name is Miss Diane. You tell her if you need something or have to go potty. Then you can play with the blocks or the dolls and meet some new friends. Then it will be snack time and so on and so forth.

You can take a picture of mom and dad and keep it in your pocket. After naptime I'll come back to get you.

  • Its to bad that you dont have time to spend an hour a few days before with your dd at the daycare. This way she gets familiar with the workers and would perhaps feel alittle more comfortable.
