War in 1900's question

Why in fact was Jerusalem in so many different hands and in such desperation year after year after yr. On the war channel it's viewed as always in the wrong hands, and that Brittain took over Bagdad, and then Jerusalem. WHY

(It is a Holy Place, why would this be?)

  • It's Holy land for several different religions, Judaism, Islam and Christianity. There is a lot of history to the region and it's been at war for thousands of years. There have been times of peace but mostly it's political reasons that sabotage any lasting peace. People gain and keep power as long as there is something to fight for, and fighting over.

  • So if it's just for PEACE , ""only due .....to POLITICS. War is just a scam to take over lands that someone else sees as a nice place, and that they are jealous enough to rid it off the face of earth? I'm not getting any of this. I see war on the war channel and see it as one sect of humans just jealous enough to get what the land they have offers, but instead it's just ruined later anyway, so why,.....? THIS land mass of bombs over and over does nothing but rid the old buildings and people and their just built later any ways again./
    Makes no sense. None

  • Adding to the excellent answer RyansMom gave--

After World War II, the newly formed United Nations had a plan to assit with a Jewish state and they developed a plan to partiton Palestine. While the Jews agreed to the plan, the Arabs did not. This added to the problems in the region.

  • Yes Ryans mom did give a very logical and accurate answer. I also want to add the mankind isn't perfect and any one of us would be naive to think we are isolated from any type of earthly man's power plays. Give a man a fish and he'll have fish for a day, teach a man to fish and he'll have bread for life.
