What could my toddler be sick with?

He has had cold symptoms for a few days. Today, he spiked a 104 fever and has a spotty rash all over his body. He has, for the last 2 weeks, been complaining his anus burns. He has also been complaining that his penis hurts the last couple of days, but not when he pees or anything, just in general.

  • It could be as simple as a UTI...I'd call his pedi and get him checked out.

  • I'm going to call in the a.m. and get him in. He is 2. I considered a UTI... but it doesn't seem like those are the symptoms.

  • this sounds serious it sounds liek he has a bacterial infection. PLEASE take him to the doctor cause its not gone in two days. get him pedialyte even the generic brand, to drink to replace lost fluids and electrolytes NOW. its not expensive and worth it. tell him he needs to drink it it is like soda and will help make him well. only feed him toast and mild things liek bananas and pudding and clear broth like chicke noodle soup. ice water even. also lay him in a lukewarm shallow bath for five minutes next time he gets a big fever like that. this coud go to pneumonia so dont fool around or delay with it at that age ok. put some ointment (A&D) on his butthole as this will soothe and protect it from further diarrhea or such. he may have a urinary infection but thats not all if he has spots. he could also be having a bad allergic reaction to a food or medicine! hug him and tell him he will feel better soon little guy

  • He's lethargic... but still alert and being silly. He played with his toys in the cool bath. I think it could be rosiola (sp) but his fever hasn't broken yet... and he's had that once before.

  • Take him to a doctor, it can be anything and we are not doctors. You can also take him to the ER or a walk in clinic.
