I have been hurt alot by family members and I've come to the conclussion that just because someone is blood doesn't mean they are family. Sometimes I think the person thats there for you is more family than blood. Do you agree?

  • My blood family is huge, I dont speak to most of them. My Chosen family is made up of dependable loving people who my world revolves around and I know will be there for me no matter which way the wind may blow

  • I had to learn that loyalty can keep me sick. Just because someone is blood related to me doesn't mean it's wrong to cut them out of my life it is going to cause me grief, chaos, put my family and myself in danger, or be a bad influence on myself or loved ones.

My brother, I don't speak to him, nor does he have my number. He only calls when he's in jail for serious offenses, and wants some money on his books, or has another baby with some random girl. He brought dangerous people around my sisters when they were little, and he has been shot and stabbed by dealers and gang members. So my kids have never met him and will not.

  • YES!! I also learned that the ones you THOUGHT were closest to you will not be there when you really need them. And the ones who are not blood are the ones who sit with you through the hardest times of your entire life!!! IMO family is defined by circumstances not blood!! Often times the people you least expect will be the ones who pull through for you.

  • I know what you mean. I have a lot of people that I call my family that are not blood related and even more family that is blood related that I refuse to talk to anymore.
