It's National Adoption Month!

Foster moms, please share a few facts about fostering to adopt or straight adoption from the foster system. If we educate those interested, that may bring more families into fostering and help these children find forever homes! :)

  • We finalized our son's adoption on NAD last year. I never knew I could feel so much joy. We are truly blessed. :)

BTW, How did National Adoption Day get started?

A: In November 2000, National Adoption Day was launched as the National Adoption Day Coalition worked with law firms, state foster care agencies, child advocates and courts to complete hundreds of foster care adoptions in nine jurisdictions nationwide (New York City; Los Angeles; Chicago; Dallas; El Paso; Fort Worth; Washington, D.C.; Omaha, Nebraska and Columbus, Ohio)

In total, more than 30,000 children have been adopted from foster care on National Adoption Day during the last 10 years.

  • TO ALL those wonderful, Huge Hearted women, whom have a whole lot of Love to offer...I am in 'AWE" of your strength, your abilities to be there for all those children who NEED parents, and NEED a place to call Home. I thank you from the depths of my marrow, wishing I was gifted from GOD to do what you all effertlessly do each day...be an unconditional Parent, to a child, that needs you;) This IS what ADOPTION is and should be about, Thank You, seems so insignificant, but I truly mean it,Blessings,CJ

  • This month will be the 11th anniversary of the finalization of our adoption of our 3 wonderful children. They were adopted by us from the foster care system and they are all now teenagers, growing up into wonderful children. Yes, we have had issues but nothing too much more than any average teen growing up these days.

Congratulations and blessings to all those families being made legal this month!

A brief look at the link:

November is National Adoption Month, a month set aside each year to raise awareness about the adoption of children and youth from foster care. This year's National Adoption Month initiative targets adoption professionals by focusing on ways to recruit and retain parents for the 115,000 children and youth in foster care waiting for adoptive families.

  • I think it should be called National Foster Care Adoption Month. Just saying...so it promotes the right kind of adoption.
