Are you thickening your baby's formula or breastmilk, what do you use?

  • I used a little bit of rice cereal too make it heavier because he was really pukey.

  • Most babies don't need it thickened. If they have reflux feed smaller amounts more often. Thickening is not necessary. And has dangerous potential.

  • I have tried rice, oatmeal cereal and other options out there. So far organic Gelmix is what has worked best for me.

  • when my two were babies, i used baby rice cereal to thicken the formula so they would get full. especially my oldest who drank 4oz. from birth. but with each child it is different. i would discuss it with your pediatrician before doing so. some babies have sensitive stomachs and can't the thickened formula. but i did that for about 2 weeks-month then started spoon feeding them the baby cereal, only 2-3 spoons at a time. take care everyone. hope this answers your question.

  • we have always consulted with our pediatric GI before doing anything, he recommended Gelmix.

  • We used rice cereal..we had to make it very thick, due to his extreme acid reflux.

  • Honestly, I never thickened mine, if anything I would water it down so they didn't end up constipated...

  • YES he is a chow hound. l put baby rice in with his formula and he loves it and not fat at all.

  • I never did that. Never saw the point. I know of some mom's that use Rice cereal in the formula.
