gnats on my houseplant!

I recently bought a cute little pot with a pothos and an aloe in it, and brought it to my office. Soon my office was inhabited by little gnats or fruit flies that are coming from the plant/pot! What can I do? Thanks!!! :o)

  • I have the same thing. Try making a soapy water in a spray bottle and spray that on the dirt everyday. The bugs live in the dirt and they eat the roots. Sometimes it is ok for the plant - I have some very healthy plants that have these bugs.

Another thing you can do is cover the dirt with about 2 inches of sand - the bugs can't climb through the sand.
