Should moms who have more kids have a shower for each child?

I am throwing a baby shower for a mom of 4 kids who has had a shower at least 2 times before. I think it is fine to have a shower but I have run across people who say that is not right. Yet this woman's kids are 10,12 & 14 year old twins so her kids baby suffer is passed on or plain dry rotted. So I figure since she was told after her son's birth she could not have any more that this a gift from God.

Cafemoms what do you think is another shower ok as long as the mom is not taking advantage?

  • Showers are a celebration of new life! Go for it!

  • YES! I think EVERY child should be celebrated! If mom doesn't need anything, that's okay, she can just ask for diapers, whips or something else that she's gonna go through... Gifts don't have to be expensive, but there is no reason or rule that only the first child is important...

  • I didn't have one for my third and fourth child, they were so close together. But people sent gifts. I did with my second because my first was a boy and he was 8 years old, and this was a girl. Thank God! I had nothing.

  • I think it's fine to have more than one shower.
I'm not sure why it's considered not ok.

myself, I give a big gift for the first kid, a gift that can be passed down. then less expensive ones for the kids to follow.

it's not like you have to spend a pile of money on each shower.
