  • Our grocery store has bags of mini pumpkins and gourds for 50 cents (you get 4 gourds or 5 mini pumpkins). Fill a basket with those and add some fresh fruit if you like. Have your kids make crafts to decorate your home..

  • on year i printed a turkey pattern from online. I traced it onto construction paper and each person cut theirs out. They had feathers of different colors. everyone had to write on eachothers feathers something htey liked about that person. In the body of hte turkey was the persons name. We used them a place card holders so while you had thanksgiving dinner you could read why everyone was thankful you were in their life. some said good cook, gorgeous eyes, always kind, brainiac....

  • I have two brown pillar candles with hurricane globes on them, a scattering of fall leaves in the middle under a small basket of mini pinecones, some of them spray painted gold for a splash of glitz, on a white tablecloth.

  • One year my daughter painted leaves and rocks with metalic paint. She put them in a pretty bowl and added some turkey feathers. If you live where there are lots of pretty leaves you wouldn't even need to paint them, but where we live the leaves are mostly just a dull brown unless they are still green and attached to trees.

  • Purchasing small pumpkins, squash and gourds offer a number of decorating options for Thanksgiving. Placing squash, gourds and pumpkins around a candle or centerpiece on the Thanksgiving table will emphasize the bounty of the holiday and offer a pleasant reminder of the purpose of the celebration.

You can buy the candles cheaply at the dollar store and gourds don't cost very much. Bring in some fall leaves and put them in a small vase too. I got a really cute ceremic pumpkin at the dollar store, it's a candy holder but you can use it for a type of vase also. I also got a cute metal painted bucket and some fake leaves and filled it up. You can do a lot cheaply at the dollar store.
