Should hunting with guns be allowed near a school?

I dropped my daughter off at our public elemetry school and across the street I saw a man in hunting gear with a rifle. There are woods there. I spoke to our police chief (who waved to the man) and told me nothing can be done.

I was concerned the whole way to work.

  • No way. I can't believe they would allow that. How close are the woods to the school?

  • literally it's a two lane road separating the school and the woods, regardless it's dangerous!

  • Uh, NO! If someone was spotted with a gun anywhere near our school the whole school would be on lockdown.

  • I'm sure they are not allowed to fire within a certain distance of the road or the school. There will always be a road next to hunting grounds, are you afraid of being shot as you drive by?

  • I mean, my house is surrounded by hunting grounds and I'm not afraid of being shot.

  • Wow, that is crazy!! no, I don't think that having a hunting area that close to any public area is a good idea.
